These are the eyes of someone who has loved me my whole life.
These are my daddys eyes.
.
.
MY DADS having a birthday this month. I cant talk about my dad without getting a big lump in my throat and my lips quivering. You see my dad is the best. He is so unique and funny. He isnt perfect but he is who he is. My cousins call him "UNCLE FUZZY" because he always had such a hairy chest. (Its not really that hairy but I guess to them it was.)
We are celebrating this upcoming birthday next weekend, and its being called "FUZZ FEST 08"
You see in 08 my daddy turns 80. Thats eighty!
My dad is the funniest guy ever. He is both sarcastic and witty. I cant even begin to describe his sense of humour. One thing he does is nickname almost everyone. And he does it quickly.
He called one boyfriend of mine "LiverLips". another he called "IVAN the Terrible" . He had a friend named STUMPY. He really is the funniest man you will meet.
I cannot wait for his birthday. You'll be hearing more about him. He lives 6 hours away and it kills me that I don't get to see him as often as I'd like. He told me a joke recently. Its plain and simple. "A horse walks into a bar and the bartender says "Why the Long Face?"
You see. so simple, yet funny.
My dad named me. If my mom would of had her way Id be a "STEPHANIE". I just dont think i would be the same person, if I wasnt named Dixie.
He used to dance with me and I would stand on the tops of his feet and he would sing to me. He made up a song called "Dancing with Dixie.. has brought me... FLAT FEET! Dancing with Dixie has brought me..." He adored me from the moment I was born. He nick named me "MIZ DIZ"
He taught me to drive. He never lost patience.
My mom taught me a lot of things. But here are some of the things he taught me.
He taught me what bravery was. He taught me that a sense of humour will get you through a lot of bad times. He taught me that being creative is its own reward. He taught me patience is a virtue. He taught me to observe things. He tried to teach me not to trust people too much. (i failed at that one.) He taught me that the long run is what matters. He taught me to rely on good common sense. He taught me table manners. He taught me not to slam the door or to leave lights on.(dont waste electricity!) He taught me to sing while you work. He taught me to roll my eyes when people do dumb things. He taught me that I was loved and special.
But mostly he taught me that life gives you lumps and to try to focus on the good things.
Ill be writing a lot more about him this week. PS The 2n song "BRAND NEW KEY" Is one that Me and My dad used to sing together. Im making a CD for him with all the songs we used to sing when I was growing up together. I used to sit on his lap and listen to him sing. This was one of our favorites!
Hackle Berfday Dadsy! See ya Saturday!
