Ive had the unfortunate experience many times in my life by doing good and helping people and getting stabbed in the back, by people I NEVER DREAMED would do it. Ive always been WAY TOO TRUSTING.
Then about 3 years ago, I stopped trusting people and pulled away from them. Stopped helping anyone unless they were family. (fortunately some have been grateful and its been a great experience. But not all people are that good.)
Yesterday one of my employees had tears in her eyes as she told me about someone doing that to her.
As I listened to her I knew exactly how she felt. Hurt, Anger, betrayal, shock... why???? I knew what to tell her, it was on the tip of my tongue, but I couldnt remember it exactly.
Then last night in the middle of the night I remembered this saying.
Its called "Do It Anyway" and recently Martina McBride wrote a song about it. I put the song on the blog here to hear.
Here it is. I hope it helps you L.W. and all my others who read it.
"People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
You can spend your whole life building something that can be torn down in a second.
Build it anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway."
