Me and my Dear Ole Dadsy!

With my adorable grandsons here I'm noticing the family resemblances of them to my daughter and to me and other family members.

I came across this photo of my father and I. My father is a wonderful man and I don't get to see him near enough. He lives in Odessa and will be 80 this October. He is still the funniest person I know. I inherited a lot from my dad. His creativity. His love of nature. His patience. His ability to work on something for 18 hours and not realize how much time has flown by. (hes a jeweler and a fantastic one at that!)

His perfectionism. His ability to stay calm when everything is falling apart! (he said that is the British blood in us.) Ive seen a rattlesnake almost bite the both of us, only inches away and he stayed so calm and had me back up and go get a shovel and he killed it with some rocks and was whistling and laughing. He NEVER GETS SCARED. Just always stays calms and thinks things through. ( I get that from him for sure and Im proud of that.) One thing different that I dont share with him, is that if you disrespect him though, you will regret it for the rest of your life. Im proud to say that Hes never laid a hand on me. (That was my mamas job.) I have heard stories how he could knock someone out with one punch! Ive heard about all his weight lifting abilities and how he let a car drive over his stomach. How he rode his HARLEY while standing up down the highway!
He was a daredevil and a charmer!

I also have his his big smile and his goofiness.

His Optimism and realism.

I wish I had more of his sense of humour. Some say I do, but I think his is better!

He can meet someone and in a few minutes have them all figured out and give them a nickname! And hes usually right!

He can talk up a storm (I got that from him!) Or he can be quiet and not want to see people. I get that way too.

He survived the front lines in Korea, where many of his friends and army buddies were killed. He was sent on military missions that were practically suicide missions and came back.

He is my hero, a one in a million. Smart, funny, generous, giving and hes my DADSY and I love him dearly.

I miss you dad! and Love you BIG!

Love your MIZ DIZ, Dixie Lee. (The GOOD KID he calls me.) haha

(PS He named me too! If my mom had her way Id be named Stephanie!)
