This is an effect that I apply to some of my images. We call it a our "Signature Giclees"(Gee Clay) Let me first tell you this takes hours and hours. Its very labor intensive. I don't believe in clicking on one action and trying to emulate this look.
I wrote a book on this a few years ago called "From Ordinary to Extraordinary" It was popular with photographers and am working on some new chapters and i am going to re release it again in early 2009.
Ive won many awards with my Giclees and I love doing them, however, I feel like I'm getting Carpel Tunnel syndrome when I do them. haha.
They are so beautiful in person and you can see samples in the studio.

PS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS I also will do these for professional photographers, for either competition or for their clients. Depending upon the complexity of the image, I usually charge around $150-$300. per image. I have a 85% rate of success rate for the photographers Ive done these for, who have merited with them. They especially look good for nature and scenics. My favorite one I did was an image of Venice Italy for a fellow photographer. It came out gorgeous! Ill see if I can find it here and post it later!
