30 things that I learned while on vacation...

We went on a Texasroad trip Vacation recently, and I wanted to list a few things (30)that I learned from it.

We drove down to the Hill country and went to Fredericksburg Texas and stayed at the fabulous http://www.hangerhotel.com/
which is a great hotel for pilots (and anyone really!)

It is on the runway and is just like the 1940s, all the way down to the subway tile in the bathrooms, the details are amazing!
We drove down to San Antonio and wen to the river walk, had Ben and Jerrys Ice cream, rode the elevator at one of the hotels there on the river, went to a photographers confrence where we got to see old friends and our son just loves it there!
Picked up our sons girlfriend and she tagged along with us. She was a lot of fun! Then we went ot New Braunfels to Schlitterbahn! http://www.schlitterbahn.com/


What I learned on our family vacation of 2008.
1.The less you pack the more fun you have.
2.Shorts and flip flops are my favorite wardrobe choices.
3. Holding hands with your husband while he drives is very romantic.
4. My husband can make right and left turns with only one hand. (thats the pilot in him.)
5. Gazing out the window for hours at the country side is hypnotic.
5. You can eat McDonalds every day for lunch for 7 days and not grow tired of it.
6. There is nothing like the hand cramping cold of a beer from your ice chest. (Or soda pop)
7. You can get an "Ice cream" headache from drinking super cold beverages.
8. Filling up your van with gas cost more today than my first car cost!
9. Having a Dvd player in your vehicle keeps the kiddos quiet.
10. Sunsets in Texas are the most beautiful anywhere!
11. Counting dead Armadillos is a game the whole family can play for days on end.
12. Water Parks are not just for kids!
13. Trying new foods that you've never tasted before can be a good thing!

14. Waking up for a week to NO ALARM CLOCK is a GOOD THING.
15. Dont slide down the Dam at the Guadlupe River, or you'll rip the butt outta your swimsuit!
15. You are never too old to swing from a Tree Rope Swing over a river!
16. You are never too old to go down the tallest water slide at a water park!
17. Shasta Creme soda and other Shasta drinks are better than real Cokes!
18. Simple is better.
19. Dont take a lap top on vacation with you.
20. Food tastes better outdoors.
21. Vacations bring back the romance to your marriage.
22. Remeber to put the do not disturb sign on your hotel door the night before so the maid doesnt wake you up early shouting "HOUSEKEEPING!!!"
23. Put sunscreen on as soon as you wake up and often throughout the day.
24. Driving off the beaten path is better than interstates. The views are better.
25. GPS Devices can and will get you lost.
26. Dont try to help husbands with directions, he will figure it out himself and without his wifes help.
27. A clean vehicle is a happy vehicle.
28. Fig newtons and creme soda is a good breakfast!
29. If mama aint happy, Nobodys Happy!
30. No matter how far you travel, Theres still no place like home.
