Wow, being gone for a week, I sure had a lot of emails.
I also had a couple of emails early this morning, from people asking me more about Palo Duro Canyon. You buy your tickets online at http://www.texas-show.com/
I wanted to post a few more images of the Pioneer Amphitheater, and what it looks like before the sun goes down. It seats almost 1,100 people and almost sold out the night we were there. It only runs through the end of August. Check out the site for more info.
Heres a funny story.
The first time I went here I was only 14 years old, my mother took us with a bunch of friends from a club she was in, and we had a blast. (Back in ye olden days it was 1976! Gasp! Some of you werent even born yet!)
The only thing is a boy dared me to me climb Sorenson Point. Its a big cliff right near where we camped. I was only 14, so I agreed. haha. I loved to hike, and was used to the moutains, since my dad used to always take us to the Davis Mountains and the Borilla mountains in West Texas.
So my friend Rhonda and her sister and I decided we would. We did climb it and it was a lot of fun but very steep and high! (Its 3,000 feet high exactly) we felt like mountain climbers. Putting your hand on a small rock and pushing up, etc... (I still like to climb Rock walls on Cruise ships etc.)

But once we got up, the sun was going down and getting dark and it was much scarier looking down, we couldnt get down! We panicked and got scared! We actually had to be rescued!!!
A huge team of men with flashlights came and got us and it took hours to get down.
My mother almost had a heart attack she was so worried about us.
My mother almost had a heart attack she was so worried about us.
The park ranger said they heard our calls for help (we all 3 would scream HELP! at the same time from the Top!
When it got dark and we werent back everyone was worried and heard our cries for help!
The Ranger told me that they almost got a helicopter to look for us!
It's only a 3 hour drive and although I've traveled all over the world and been to 14 countries, there is nothing like your childhood memories and home.
I hope you all will consider visiting it. You can camp, or bring an RV, or they have a few cabins, or stay in Canyon at one of the hotels or the HUDSPETH Bed and Breakfast Inn, or stay in Amarillo.
