WHAT AN EXCELLENT EFFORT DAWGS!

Well, our boys did not win their game against Abilene Wylie. The Final score was 39-21 Wylie and Burkburnett respectively. I will say the boys played their hearts out. All of them, from our quarterback Canon Cornelius to Lineman Lorenzo Barnes, to our son Scott Dobbins (he made several tackles, I lost count) to Robert Blackmon, Steve Hill, Malachi Naef, WOW! I love to watch that boy run! to Tofte, Whitaker, Cozby, Oguleneye, etc etc etc. They all were amazing!!!

Of course they were disappointed, they really really wanted to win that game and title.
It was a great game at a beautiful stadium in Saginaw Tx, Here's to you guys!!! And a Big Thank you to all our Coahces, they were fantastic and espically Coach Scott Boswell, he truly knows how to inspire the boys and they love him! We all love you and you outdid yourselves! And Congrats to the Abilene Bulldogs, you had to step it up to beat our boys.
The Bulldogs are still the 3AAA Area Champions and threes always next year! Go DAWGS!

In the Big D with the grandson!

We went to Dallas this weekend with my grandson. He and I went on a shopping trip and of course we had to hit Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas! Every year they decorate their windows and have a huge tree! Its always breathtaking! I advise you guys to try and get down there before Christmas passes. Its a beautiful display and the store has all kinds of sales. We had a great day, Im sad my grandson had to go home last night, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving week with him. Hes such a well behaved and precious little boy. Always has a smile for me, and he worships his Uncle Scott. We had a nice visit with his mom and his little brother and dad too Saturday. Isnt that what the holidays are all about? Family. Heres to a wondeful Christmas Season for all of you! This first photo is the tree, and this is outside the store, on the East side of the store. It was so cool looking in person!
This year it had a childrens theme and it was about Energy! The tree was huge and was made of books, I heard they had over 30,000 books!!!
The side of the store had giant butterflies hanging over the sides! It was breathtaking!!!

It was a good day



I hope you guys all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families! We did! We drove down to Dallas to my husbands parents house and had a wonderful time, but we had to leave after only a few hours as our son had football practice tonight as they have a big game tomorrow against Abilene Wylie!
After practice one of the parents hosted a BONFIRE on their land and the booster club has s'mores and hot choclate for everyone.
i got this shot of the defensive line with head Coach Scott Boswell. I love how they are looking at the fire, shoulder to shoulder together thinking about tomorrow night and what they have to do.
Fires are so primal and these young men are all friends and almost like young warriors. A lot of pressure for 17 year old young men.
Nothing like the crisp fall air, Thanksgiving and football!

Nice Articles in the Times Record News for our Bulldogs

Wow, Dont you love it when someone apologizes for misjudging you.? It is nice of them to do it. and it is the right thing to do.
Recently the Times Record News wrote that Burkburnett Bulldogs would not win thier game to Burnet. In fact they said they would lose by 13 points. Which the Bulldogs won and was ahead by 13 points by half time! In todays paper was two articles, one where they interview our son and 2 of his lineman friends and another where one of their sports writers Matt Ledesma apologizes to Burkburnett.
I thought that was kind of neat. And our son did too.
Heres what he wrote.


Everybody loves an underdog.
First there was David against Goliath. Then Truman defeated Dewey. And there probably wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Rocky beat Apollo Creed.
But there are fewer places outside the world of sports where the underdog is truly appreciated.
Just ask the Miracle on Ice U.S. hockey team. Or the 2007 New York football Giants.
Or...the Burkburnett Bulldogs?
Last week, a co-worker, and avid Burk fan, told me our whole staff was crazy for not picking the Bulldogs in our weekly periscope. Admittedly with a hint of smugness, I told him I wasn’t exactly losing sleep over the pick.
I even went as far as to promise him I would write an apology to the city of Burkburnett if their team won its regional semfinal game against Burnet.
So if you’ve been keeping up with our high school playoff football coverage, you can probably guess what’s coming next.
To the residents of Boomtown...I’m sorry.
Hopefully the holidays have put you all in a forgiving mood because it seems as if the pigskin prognosticators at the TRN are once again writing off your team in unanimous fashion. That will happen when the spread for the game is in double digits in the other team’s favor.
Then again, we wouldn’t have the word “upset” if teams didn’t shock the so called experts every once in a while.
With No. 8 Abilene Wylie staring across the line of scrimmage, the odds won’t be in Bulldogs’ corner this Friday in Saginaw.
But something tells me the Burkburnett players, coaches and fans don’t have any doubt about who is going to be making plans for the state semis next month.
Congratulations on a great season so far, and good luck to the underdog Bulldogs this week.

Going to the movies tonight!


The first time I saw the previews for the movie THE BLIND SIDE, i knew i wanted to see it. I love love love Sandra Bullock, always have, and of course TIM MCGRAW! Just watching the previews makes my eyes water up! I love stories where people help other people find their strengths and believe in them. They are the best! And Sandra Bullock is awesome! Its not a movie about Football, its a movie about people being decent and helping others, and that's the way we help ourselves! And its based on an extraordinarly TRUE STORY!

Tristan!



Our grandson Tristan is out of school and visiting us this week! We've had such a great time with him. We picked him up in Justin Friday after school and took him to the game in Mineral wells.
Ive had fun cooking for him and just getting some time with him. His little brother is still back home with his parents, so we've had some good one on one time with him. He lived here for a while last year and when his old friends heard he was here, they were all over here playing video games and having a sleepover.
He hasnt ever been to visit me, without one of his parents and its such a treat!
Tristan was almost born on my birthday, missed it by a few hours, so we are a lot alike. Now back to more fun (he calls me Grammy) Love that!

Burkburnett Bulldogs win against Burnet! 27-21!

Congratulations to the Burkburnett Bulldogs for their big win Friday night in Mineral Wells against Burnet. They are the area Champions! It was an amazing game, with all the boys playing their best! I dont know what the coach told them, or if it was those Giant Steaks the Booster Club fed them Thursday night, but they came alive and won the Trophy.
It was amazing, Canon and Company Pulled it out! Ive never seen so much heart!
They are a great team, but they stepped it up even better. There were several interceptions and some amazing plays. Some of the most thrilling moments were made by Malachi, Temi O, Canon, Barnes, Isiah T, and so many others! Our son got 4 tackels a Sack and tiped the ball once. Decorating with Wall Portraits {Wichita Falls Photographer}


BBBBRRRrrrrrr Its really cold this morning! Finally at last it is feeling like Fall! When I think of Fall and Winter, I think of us going up to Colorado or New Mexico and going skiing. One thing I really love to do is stay in a nice cabins! We rent private cabins that belong to families, who lease them out to screened guests to stay in! I'm always amazed at the beauty of these cabins, the workmanship in the logs and the hard wood floors, etc.

And especially the rock fireplaces! Here I took a shot of cabin that is near Aspen and showed how a beautifully framed portrait hanging over the fireplace becomes the centerpiece of the home! (this is virtual created not a real wall portrait yet!)

For the past 14 years, we've been creating WALL Portraits for our clients. I'm so proud of some of the homes Ive been in and seen the family and children's portraits hanging over the years that Ive created! It truly warms their homes and creates a special touch, that no designer item could replicate!

I hope you will consider having a beautiful portrait created of your family or children to grace your home!
Its the one item that gains more value as time goes on.

Winter Angels


The first time I saw these precious little twins I knew that I wanted to photograph them. They come and have their portrait made with Santa every year and Ive watched them grow up, but I couldn't wait any longer. I told their mother I had a vision of them wearing fur coats with the old fashioned "mufflers" and she surprised me with these beautiful outfits!
They remind me so much of the girls in the Netherlands, in Holland and Belgium with their blue eyes and beautiful blonde hair!

A nice thing to do...

If you are celebrating Thanksgiving this year here in Wichita Falls, you might consider adding a couple more places at the table.
Sheppard AFB airmen and women who cant go home would love to have a homemade dinner with you!

Sheppard has been hosting this event for as many years as we've lived here. Wouldn't it be nice to share your families feast and fellowship with some who are very far from home?

We will be in Dallas (Irving and Frisco) so unfortunately we wont be able to do it, but here's the info if you want to participate!

In all about 250 young trainees are taking part in the operation that promises to be special.
Which helps because for many of them, including Airmen Calvin Smith and Steven Taylor, this is the first Thanksgiving away from home.


But these two aren't the only ones looking forward to next Thursday. Both say their parents are relieved to know someone is taking them in. Open your home and play host to our wonderful service men and women!

Families must host at least two SAFB Airmen, live within 50 miles of the base and provide transportation. For more information--call 676-4370. And please hurry because the the deadline to sign up is November 21st

SEVENTEEN

Letter to God and our son"

"Dear God,

Thank you for giving us this beautiful 7 lb 7 ounce 21 1/2 inches long precious baby boy, 17 years ago. Scott, you were born to us in a military hospital in Okinawa Japan. Our family was not there with us that cloudy day in November of 1992, but as a family of 3, we snuggled you and delighted in your beautiful Blonde spikey hair and your amazingly blue eyes.

You seemed to just be happy to sleep and was calm from the start. An easy baby to take care of. Happy and smiling most of the time. You amazed us you learned to walk at 9 months old and had me running around most days. You were running at 10 months, just as my parents say I was. Strangers commented on your huge muscular legs. (The Legs of Justice someone said one day.)

You hardly cried, would eat almost anything i gave you, but wouldn't sleep through the night for almost a year waking every 3 to 4 hours to nurse. Always hungry and cooing, How I treasure those nights rocking you, and your eyes staring into mine. Our private special quiet time together. I almost didnt mind missing the sleep.

You traveled well with us, learning to crawl in Singapore on the 40 something floor of the Stamford Plaza hotel. Stepping foot on US Soil for the first time at 13 months old. Your grandparents thrilled at this Blonde blue eyed toddler!

You drew lots of attention in Asia, with your Almost white blonde hair and crystal blue and green eyes and perpetual tanned skin. You didn't like to wear clothes and preferred to be in a diaper as much as possible.
You have been an easy child to raise. Always sweet, and sensitive and cared about all living things. When your friends were breaking robins eggs and stomping them in the ground, you ran home crying that they were killing baby birds.
When your friends were fist fighting and being tough and, you were watching in amazement that anyone could hurt anyone. You loved to climb things and was always alert, smart and observant of everything happening around you.

The perpetual stream of kids coming over to play with you, was nonstop. Until you met your first real girlfriend and then you preferred her company over others.
You are color blind, having friends of all races, religions and backgrounds. You are a friend to everyone.

you learn everything so quickly and effortlessley. You learned to play a guitar by simply holding it and playing around. Then a keyboard, teaching yourself song after song. Sometimes going on the internet and learning a new song quickly to impress a girl or us. You get yourself up and go to church without our prodding, and often times with out us!


We've cried with you, when your pet hamster died, when your first girlfriend broke your heart and when your great grandparents were laid to rest.

We've watched how tender you are with your girlfriend, and how you put her needs above your own. We watched you be a friend to others who text you at night crying about thier problems. We've watched you lovingly care for your car and how clean you keep it and respect the things we've given you.

You've always taken everything to the Nth degree, from trading Pokemon cards and yu-gi-oh to collecting things to everything you do. You take it to the maximum.
We have watched you train hard to be a weight lifter and win world records, and help take your high school team to the State Championship. We've watched you play football with all your might, even playing through pain and illnesses to show your teammates your dedication.
We've watched in awe as you have been selected twice for the National Honor Society and how you strive hard for excellence.
We've seen you quietly reading your bible in your bedroom at night fighting sleep to finish what you started.
Its been our privilege to parent you. Our privilege to watch you grow up, our joy to be your parents. Now you're Seventeen and we know it wont be long before you pack up and go away to College.
The time has flown. You are our only son. You are our Pride and Joy. You are a godly young man. You are our Scott. Thank you God!"

Hes clenching his fists and in pain. I make sure he has better nutrition now so it doesnt happen again. Ravishing Rebecca!


Recently I got to pleasure of photographing Rebecca! Rebecca is planning on becoming an elementary teacher and is an avid reader!
As she told me, She is also a hardworking person who enjoys the unexpected surprises life throws at her. She loves being around friends and family. Occasionally she likes doing something that might terrify her at the beginning but helps her in the long run. She loves to smile!

Its been a busy weekend, but I wanted to post this image really quick (I'm in between sessions right now) that I shot earlier today of the Gunter family! I just love this family, I have been photographing their beautiful daughter since she was little. Now they've added two precious twins to the family! I was amazed to hear that they sleep through the night and have since they were tiny! Both of mine didn't sleep through the night till they were over a year old. Lucky guys! I could of just eaten up these precious angels!

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!


My husband went to the Pentagon this week on business and came back with a beautiful gift for me! Ive never seen anything like it. Its a Christmas ornament, but its made in layers of 24 karat gold. and is made to to look like the one President Benjamin Harrison had for his grandchildren in the White House during his presidency.

"We shall have an old-fashioned Christmas Tree for the grandchildren upstairs, and I shall be their Santa Claus myself." said President Benjamin Harrison.

"A toy train and a wooden sled await Benjamin, Mary's rosy-cheeked doll sits on a tricycle, and nearby is Marthena's much wished for dollhouse. A three-foot-high Santa Claus completes the season's spectacle." says the brochure.

This has definitely kicked off my excitement for Christmas and the holidays! Is it too early to put up a tree?

ONE OF MY FAVORITE STORIES

Below is a story that I often tell my friends or co-workers who are going through a rough time. I honestly don't mind the rough times, because they have made me tougher. Each hurdle, each challenge has only strengthened me. I hope you'll enjoy this story!!! I have actually told friends, that I thank peoople who give me these challeneges because they are making me a better person! (Just like I thanked my track coach, softball coach, Mrs. Stephens, my typing teacher in the 10th grade, My Mother, my photography teachers who critisized my work. All the people who came into my life in so many ways and who hurt my feelings, or did things to me I thought was unfair......and so many others! THANK YOU!
(Oh and thanks to my new personal trainer, Billy, who is making me push past the pain, 6 days a week!)

One beautiful spring day, a little boy was playing outdoors and found a fascinating caterpillar. He carefully picked it up and took it home to show his mother. He asked his mother if he could keep it, and she said he could if he would take good care of it.

The little boy got a large jar from his mother and put plants to eat, and a stick to climb on, in the jar. Every day he watched the caterpillar and brought it new plants to eat.

One day the caterpillar climbed up the stick and started acting strangely. The boy worriedly called his mother who came and understood that the caterpillar was creating a cocoon. The mother explained to the boy how the caterpillar was going to go through a metamorphosis and become a butterfly.

The little boy was thrilled to hear about the changes his caterpillar would go through. He watched every day, waiting for the butterfly to emerge. One day it happened, a small hole appeared in the cocoon and the butterfly started to struggle to come out.

At first the boy was excited, but soon he became concerned. The butterfly was struggling so hard to get out! It looked like it couldn’t break free! It looked desperate! It looked like it was making no progress!

The boy was so concerned he decided to help. He ran to get scissors, . He then carefully and so patiently snipped the cocoon to make the hole bigger and then the butterfly quickly emerged!

As the butterfly came out the boy was surprised. It had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. He continued to watch the butterfly expecting that, at any moment, the wings would dry out, enlarge and expand to support the swollen body. He knew that in time the body would shrink and the butterfly’s wings would expand.

But neither happened!

The butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with shriveled wings

It never was able to fly.

As the boy tried to figure out what had gone wrong his mother took him to talk to a scientist from a local college. He learned that the butterfly was SUPPOSED to struggle. In fact, the butterfly’s struggle to push its way through the tiny opening of the cocoon pushes the fluid out of its body and into its wings.
Without the struggle, the butterfly would never, ever fly. The boy’s good intentions hurt the butterfly.


As you go through life, keep in mind that struggling is an important part of any growth experience. In fact, it is the struggles that causes you to develop your ability to fly.

THE DRIVE INN MOVIE


Our Family loves to go to the Drive Inn movie in Graham. The only downside was that they used to only be open during the summer months. Well now they are opening up for one night only shows on Friday nights and guess what flick is set to open Nov 20th, Friday night at 11:30 pm

January Plans




Wow I just learned this morning, that my husband will be going to Hawaii on Business in January for sure and then onto Japan! I will for sure be going to Hawaii, but may or may not be going to Japan with him depending upon our parents plans etc.

If you know me, one thing I love to do is travel. Ive been traveling since I moved out of my parents home, (taking a Greyhound to Vegas once by myself just because!) and been to 14 countries!

Ive been to Hawaii already (our stop before moving to Wichita Falls) but this time I wont have children with us, so we will get to do more exploring,etc.

Then I have a wedding in Hawaii in April, so Ill be going back again! One thing Ive wanted to do was hike up to the famous waterfall, I forget the name of it. I think its called "The wall of tears".
There are over 50 waterfalls in the Hawaiian islands! Also we are going to go see the active volcano Kilauea! We will be on the big island for the mains part of the trip in Hilo and Kona! I'm having a great time planning all the adventures we will have! (We went to a fantastic Luau last time we were there and watching the natives dancing and doing the fire dances etc was great!)

Then later in the spring, I will be accompanying him to Italy, England and Germany!

Im so proud of him for earning his Lt. Colonel rank and for all the hard work he's put into his career. Seeing his name on the door and his big office made me very very proud of him. (well I was already proud before, but a bit more now.)

They say that the life of a military wife is a lonely one, as you move so often and you have to say goodbye to friends often, but ours has been a charmed life with staying in the our native state Texas for 15 years! Close to our families and my sister in Frisco!

Christmas Magic fun! Wichita Falls Texas photographer



WOW! Thanks to all the children who came out to Christmas magic Thurs-Sunday! It was a busy whirlwind time! Its so awesome to see the children growing up and returning every year to see Santa and have their portrait made! This was our 10th year and some of these children were tiny babies the first year! My cheeks hurt from all the smiles, hugs and laughs you guys gave me!
My heart is full and about to burst with joy!

Ill be posting some of the shots later! Meanwhile, the studio is closed the next two days, so that I can send the orders to the lab, unpack all the stuff, and put it away and rest a bit before we fire up again on Wednesday. Also it our sons 17th birthday tomorrow. My feet were so sore after setting up Wednesday and thursday but I got some of the Happy Feet massage insert and wow what a difference they made!http://happyfeet.net/testimonials.html

Our photo lab issues.

Hey Gang, We have officially switched Labs. and have new orders arriving very soon. The lab that we were using, had prints coming in Way too dark and the lab was not willing to reprint these images. Ive been a digital photographer for over 8 years and never had issues like this. The pictures were so dark and unacceptable. Our apologies for the delay while our new lab prints these images over.
We are expecting a large shipment Friday or Monday. Thank you for your patience.! We have ordered special gifts for each of you to show our appreciation.

My day today...

(Note: the song on this blog needs to play while you read this. It will make sense in a minute.)

Did you ever have one of those days? One of those days when nothing seems to go right? You try to make your morning coffee and you cant because you are out of Coffee filters. Then while dressing, you cant find a mate to the shoes you want to wear and so you decide to wear another pair and cant find the mate to that one? Its like someone took one of your shoes of every pair?!

You decide to ditch the coffee and have some cearl, only to realize that you're out of milk! Didn't I just buy 2 Gallon Jugs a couple of days ago? And you don't find the magic decoder ring in your cearl box. Only cearl.

You go outside and realize that you accidentally locked yourself out! With your keys inside. How was that possible??? When it takes a key to lock the door?

You finally crawl through a window that is unlocked and skin the skin off your arms and legs so bad and fall on with a thud.

Then your well behaved dog who is house trained, and has been for 10 years, decides this is the day that he doesn't want to be house trained and leaves a nice present for you, right on the freshly shampooed carpet.

You finally find your keys and are headed to work, or an important appointment, and you look down and you are almost out of gas. In fact the Needle is Past E. and then you feel that old familiar 'chug chug" feeling of your car, slurping down the last ounces of gas while you're eyes frantically search for a gas sign and fortunately coast to a gas station by the skin of your teeth!

Later.... you realize you had missed an important dental appt , and your dentist informs you it will be another 4-6 weeks before you can get in.

You miss your exit and have to circle a mile to get back to the turn off you intended to take.

A person you've been counting on for an all important event calls to back out at the last minute and you have no one to fill in and this is going to lead to many disappointed and angry parents.

For some reason, the past two weeks, earth worms have taken up residence in your driveway and your home every time it rains, and you have no idea why and find a half dozen of them every day in your home in different rooms? Even the exterminator has never seen anything like it!

Then the school calls and your child is sick with the stomach flu and you have to pick them up, you watch helplessly as they "visit" the bathroom and throw up every 15 minutes. Your baby is sick as a dog, and you know you're next.

You run out to get your child some Pedilyte and Tylenol and something for dinner you think, can this day honestly get any worse???.......
and then you see him.
The homeless man standing on the street corner off the interstate. Ratty clothes and a backpack at his feet. The cardboard sign is scrawled with the words "Hungry Traveler." His skin is dark from the brutal sun and his beard is wild and wooly. You hit the power door lock button and try to not make eye contact.

Suddenly while sitting there in the awkward moments waiting for the light to change, you hear a song on the Christian radio station that says "I was sure by now, God, that You would have reached down and wiped our tears away........ stepped in and saved the day. I barely hear You whisper through the rain, "I'm with you".... and I'll praise you in this storm and I will lift my hands , for You are who you are, no matter where I am . And every tear I've cried, You hold in your hand............... You never left my side and though my heart is torn....... I will praise You in this storm.

and then you feel his eyes on you. and you look over at him, and he seems grateful that you acknowledged him with eye contact, and you reach down and pull a $5.00 bill out of your purse, the change from the last store you went to, and you roll down your window and motion for him and his Eyes light up! Crystal Blue eyes and he smiles the biggest smile and takes it gently from you and says "thank you Ma'am" and you honestly can see, that he is a nice guy. Maybe not the smartest, but he is a person, a human being, and who knows what his story is.?

Who knows what happened to him.? Maybe its his fault, maybe he had a good family and refused to follow the rules? Maybe he had it bad, maybe his dad beat him and he ran away. Or maybe he lost his mind in Vietnam. Maybe life just disappointed him one day at a time, and he didn't have any family and he slowly slipped down and down and down.
Something that could happen to any of us. And suddenly you wished you had more to give him.
And you start to sing along "I will Praise you in this storm.. I will lift my hand.."and watch him in your rear view mirror walking quickly through the tall grass off the interstate towards the Taco Bell across the street. and you realize that even your worst day.. you have a warm bed, and a family. and you wipe one tear from the corner of your eye, thankful for the blessings God has given you. And glad that you could lift someones day even a tiny bit and make it just a bit better for them. Because we are all connected. We all could be him. We all fall short of Gods glory. And you pray that you will never become one of those Cold and Timid Souls who only serve themselves and care nothing of those hurting around them. and you wonder. Maybe he was an angel and God was testing you?
and then, I praised him in this storm.

My book for November


I try to read a book a month. I could read more, but I like to read a chapter every night, savoring each chapter as something I look forward to, when my family goes to bed at 9 or 10:00. its my time to myself. Ask my family, we have books all over the house! Its getting to be a problem, I have them stacked in the window, on top of my desk, in my bedroom in neat tall stacks, in bins, drawers and bookcases.
Our guest room has a lot in there too, as does my husbands office. Okay, I admit, I might have a problem.
Right now I'm reading "Cherries in Winter." Its a really good book written by Suzan Colon, and she writes about stories about her family. My favorite is the story about her and her grandfather and how they would go digging for clams. It was so tender and sweet, and then she has her Grandmas recipe for Clam chowder.

They have very affordable used books at great prices.

I hope you'll pick up a copy of Cherries in Winter, its very heartwarming. I'm sure you all have recipes and stories from your family. Food that makes you think of someone. My dad made the best "Mulligan stew" from a Play that I was in when I was in elementary school. My mothers fried chicken and mashed potatoes. My great grandfathers pancakes. The book makes me want to put on a pot of Mulligan Stew right now!
