At Photography by Dixie, we have offered airbrushing since 1998.
Dixie has attended formal training classes all over the country to learn these techniques. Before Dixie actually learned herself, she utilized the services of professional airbrush technicians. In the early days it was called "MASK" and offered things such as blemish removal, whitening of the teeth, softening or removing tiny lines, wrinkles, etc.
Dixie also worked in a lab located in Lubbock Texas in the 1980s which had 2 professional retouch artists. She would observe the ladies scraching the negatives with tiny tools and magnifing lenses and then painting on the actual photograph to improve the image.
These ladies even painted Eyes open the old fashioned way! Now days with the advent of digital it is quite easy to swap heads, eyes, faces, remove blemishes, braces, etc.
However, it does take time, and the studio must charge fees to cover the time involved.
Dixie has studied with one of the best retouchers in this country. Master Photographer Helen Yancy of Michigan. Helen has more degrees in photography and art than any single photographer in the country.
Here is an example that Dixie did 3 years ago. Note the deep "pock mark" scars on the young lady's cheeks.
You can rest assured that you are in good hands at PBD, with over 18 years experience of darkroom, traditional airbrush and digital restoration experience.
