Fun project I came up with!
I love to make things at the holidays. I get a bigger thrill of coming up with an idea and then shopping for things and making it! I made this Friday morning before work! Now my office manager wants one. I had found all these pine cones recently the day after I shot a wedding in Denton. My assistant and I saw all these pine cones lying in a parking lot in Denton near a store. So we grabbed about 30 of them. Ive been trying to figure out what i wanted to do with them and recently I decided I would make a wreath. I used my trusty Hot Glue gun, and some florists wire and moss, and some pretty iced fruit from Michael's. I got the fabric for the ribbon from Hancock Fabrics. Its my favorite shade of green. I hope you get to make something fun this holiday season! Tonight I'm making photo ornaments!

Baking, shopping, wrapping and loving.
Hes going to be so surprised to see how beautifully my son and I decorated the inside of our home wtih two beautiful trees and all the other adornments! (he did the outside before he left town.!)
Ive got lots of things I'm baking, fudge, pies, a cake that looks like a Castle, I'm going to make another Rib Roast too.
I have decorated three trees, and shopped for gifts. The way that I get into the spirit is to go to The Galleria Mall in Dallas the day after Thanksgiving and watch the ice skaters and view the beautiful decorations both in the mall and outside and that always gets me in the mood.
Also listening to our local Christian station or KLOVe or Air One helps too. If you have a recipe that you like to make during the holidays Id love for you to send it to me! I love to cook, and i cook a lot more this time of year more than any other time.
Whether its a main course, a side dish or a dessert, Id love to hear from you. Just email me at PDixie@sw.rr.com
Ill share with you first. This is a Soup/stew?? dish don't know what to call it, that we love around here.
Its called White Chili. But its not really chilli.
Here ya go!
HUGS! Dixie
Ingredients
3 pounds cooked Great Northern beans, canned.
2 pounds boneless chicken breast, skin removed
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 medium onions, chopped
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon oregano
2 4-ounce cans chopped jalapenos (substitute mild green Chile's for less spicy version)
4 cups chicken stock or canned broth
20 ounces Monterrey Jack cheese, grated
1 fresh jalapeno or Serrano, chopped
Sour cream.
Instructions
Place chicken in a large sauce pan. Add cold water to cover and bring to simmer. Cook and simmer until tender, approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Using the same pan, discard water and heat oil over medium heat. Add onions, and sautè until translucent. Stir in garlic, chiles, cumin, cayenne pepper, oregano, and cloves. Sautè for 2 to 3 minutes. Add chicken, beans, and stock. Let simmer 15 to 20 minutes. (this smells heavenly!!!!)
Just before serving, stir in the grated cheeese, reserving some for topping. Ladle into bowls and serve with sides of grated cheese, chopped jalapeños and top with sour cream if desired. Tastes great with Garlic Bread too! ENJOY!!!

! LOVE This Family!

As you may or may not know, this is my favorite family! The Hortons! No offense to you other guys, but this couple has been to my studio exactly 14 times in 3 years! So of course you get to know people when you are around them that much! They are so sweet. They are in our "Watch me Grow Program!" Where they get a beautiful album of their childs growth progress each month their first year and then continuing on.
Ive gotten to watch their little girl Holland grow up and now they have an addition to their family, their beautiful new baby girl Britton! Let me tell you Holland is a hoot, and Britton is going to have a ball with her growing up.
I had a great time with them. Thanks guys for choosing me for your Christmas portraits.! (BTW- Oh and we have a fun little shoot coming up with Britton. I cant wait to hold and mold her and get some precious fresh baby portraits of her.)

Picture Perfect Family!

Yesterday I got to meet the Hammons! They were a great bunch, I swear these children could easily be clothing models. It was pretty chilly and they never complained, smiled beautifully and were perfect angels. That is very rare indeed!
I don't want to go into a lot of detail but they are new in town and dad is employed with Texas Roadhouse! (My fav place for steaks in Texoma!)
Thank you guys, it was a lot of fun! Heres a sprinkling of my favorites!

Happy Monday

I am still decorating our daughters house. I've pretty much completed thier living room, dinning room & Kitchen. Now Im working on the bedrooms and bathroom.
I keep finding the most adorable things for my little grandson (the 3 year old) recently I found an old Cantalope Crate (they are hard to come by!) and some precious stuffed animals. I love stuffed animals that look either vintage or just old fashioned in some way or another. I cant wait for you to see all the other goodies and how sweet it is. Im trying not to have anything that would tell you what year it is, I want it too look timeless, as if it could of been 20 years ago or longer!
