Missing in Action!

Luigi Barbano
Sorry I have been away for a while, what a week its been! My husband and I had an Italian Photographer come visit us for a few days, and we enjoyed his visit. He lives in Northern Italy near Turin. Luigi Barbano. http://www.barbanollc.com/portfolio.php
Some of the shots in his Travel gallery are here in Wichita Falls.

He's an amazing photographer and super sweet guy. This is his 2nd visit to see us. He is so intersting. We met him about 5 years ago on a cruise in the Caribbean and have stayed friends since then. Hes primarily a commercial photographer and does beautiful work!
Heres a shot I got of him sitting in our living room. We miss you already Luigi!

We've been enjoying our sons Friday night Football games and the busy pace that having a Senior in the house comes with. Grandchildren, friends, family. What life is all about!

Saturday I photographed two beautiful ladies (who drove in from Abilene Texas!) in the Pin-Up 40s style and getting ready for our Fall Promotion.

If you want to be on our List for a Family Portrait in the Fall leaves give us a call. We still have some openings left! 940-761-5111

Mirror Project.

orange mirro2
We are still decorating my daughters house. Little by little as they can afford it. God is good, He blessed our son in law with a job! We knew that God would be faithful. He has been going to church twice a week and praying that God would bless him with employment and low and behold, it happened 2 weeks ago!
He is so thankful for it!
My daugher and I were out shopping one day and we came across a few nick nacks to help cozy up their home. One of the items was this old mirror. The color and style are not her tatse but I assured her that with some sanding and a little paint, it would be a treasure!

I have it hanging in our guest room right now, but this afternoon Im taking it to her home and we will find a special place for it. Her color scheme of their family room is tangerine, lime and lemon (with touches of Robins Egg blue)
We picked it up at the Salvation Army store for $9.99.
I hope we've inspired some of you to rescue some items from your thrift stores and reinvent them and save them from a landfill.

VIOLA here it is!

One of the cutest things was that they had a basket of KAZOOs. As the bride came down the aisle with her dad, everyone tooted "Here comes the bride" on thier Kazoos! Isn't that the cutest thing? And its so them. they are not serious people and it sure did break the tension and make everyone smile!

CLASS OF 2011 SPECIAL!

As some of you may know, my main specialty is HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PORTRAITS. This is what I love to do the most. I love families and babies and all kinds of other photography, but truly SENIORS are my favorite.
It is our 16th year in business in Wichita Falls and i've photographed lots of Seniors, thousands from all over, Wichita Falls, Burkburnett, Windthorst, Vernon, Archer City, Seymour, Haskell, Jacksboro, Henrietta, Nocona, Holliday, Muenster, Gainsville, Grandprarie, Richardson, Olney, Throckmorton, Graham, and Bellvue. Many from Oklahoma too!

Rarely do I offer special or sales for Seniors.
But I'm doing it in honor or our son graduating this year. You see the Class of 2011 is a special class to us.
It's the year our son is graduating too.

So were doing something we NEVER DO.

I'm offering a SPECIAL. If you call our studio, and schedule your Senior Portraits to be taken sometime before April 11th 2011, you will receive 50% off your Session and get 11% off your order!
This is very unusual for us because we haven't raised our Senior prices since 2006!!!
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking our portraits are expensive. They are not! We keep up with our competition and we also get the price lists from LIFE TOUCH and the other "chain" studios.
We are very competitive and offer so much more in the way of service, quality and unique things such as shoots anywhere you want to go to!
We have a great studio with professional lighting and props and we can also go on location.!
We've never offered this before but we are feeling generous.
The only Term or Rule for this special is that you need to call us by November 1st. Our phone is 940-761-5111 or email us at Pdixie@sw.rr.com
You can call now and set up the appointment to happen sometime as long as its before April 11th, 2011.
We also offer a money back guarantee on our photography! If you for any reason don't like your portraits after seeing them the first time, we will do a re shoot, if you still arnt happy, we will refund your session fee in full! No worries!
Give us a call and take advantage of this offer!

WE BELIEVE!

Wow, Friday night, we had a great game against Vernon. It was a nail biter. I will explain more soon. and add pictures. All I can say is we ARE SO PROUD OF THE PLAYERS. (and Coaches!) They won and it was on KFDX play of the week with Tobin McDuff.

You know that feeling when you feel like your chest is going to burst open because you are so proud of someone?. Well thats how my husband and I feel about every single player of the Burk Bulldogs. I looked into their eyes Friday night, while on the sidelines and taking pictures and I saw something that gave me goosebumps. I saw a combination of determination, hope, extreme focus, and a whole lot of "WERE GONNA GET IT DONE!"

Over the years we've gotten to know these boys and we love them. I mean we love them like they are family. We've seen them sweat, pray, fight, overcome obstacles, never give up and yes even cry. We've watched those boys turn from boys to Men. We've cried with them and we've cheered with them. We will do it again and again.
Friday night they pulled together like a real team. Like men in battle. Like men who have that determination to work as a unit, a team and get it done.
They did in fact, get it done.
We believed in them, and they came through. Not for us, but they came through for themselves, their team and for each other.
Because the main lesson that playing football teaches you is this. To give it your all, and to dig down deep and find that strength that we all possess
and make it happen.

Thanks Bulldogs for giving it your all. We are so proud of you boys, er i mean, MEN.
Lets do it again next Friday night!!!

Down on the Farm with the Bray family.

bray family12
The young lady got the horse when she was 3 years old, I love it when kids get to grow up with their animals! Its so special.

Bray Family

I love this family! I first met the daughter and mom a few years back when Patti came in for Senior portraits. I had the honor today of getting to go onto their farm/ranch which has been in their family for over 100 years, and take a family portrait for them! It was so nice walking through out their home and seeing their daughters beautiful portraits that I photographed, gracing the walls of their home.

They have the most lovable dog, his name is Duke and he met me when I drove onto their property. What a cutie and so funny. Hes a great Labrador, loves to retrieve his ball and run and play and so funny.
We had all the elements, beautiful sunny weather, A beautiful family, gorgeous land, great animals, a photographers dream! Now if I can just get them to adopt me!

Thank you to the Brays for allowing me the privilege of taking your family portrait.
It was my pleasure!

How time flies!

THEN 1999

Well as most of you know our only son is a Senior this year. If you know me, you know Im not taking it too well. I can honestly say that its been a pleasure raising this child of ours. He doesnt give us any problems. He is sweet, and funny and friendly and great. He is very concientous and a great kid. I guess if he had grown up wiht a brother he might of developed some meaness in him. Or he might be selfish, or he might be in trouble a lot. But hes not. He loves church. He loves the Lord, He loves his family and the worst I can say is that he leaves towels on the floor in his room. Thats it! He washes his car at least once a week, he irons his own clothes. He bathes his dog and he keeps his room picked up. But you guys have heard all about it before the past 4 1/2 years since i started this blog. Because you see, I cant stop bragging on him.

I dont even apologize for it. In a world these days when there is so much negative, and so many bad influences, its amazing that kids can choose the right path. But ours did. The funny thing is we didnt shelter him at all. We let him make his own choices.

We do have a curfew but we trust him. hes had a car since the day he turned 16 and he always comes home on time. He does his homework by him self and hes in the top 10 % of his class. Hes all district in Football and All state. Hes ... well there I go again. Im just having a hard time knowing that hes going away to school soon. I wish he would make me mad or something so I wouldnt miss him so much, but the truth is, I miss him already. I took some shots of him and his dog this afternoon after his Football teams dinner. Of course he hates having his pic made but he loves his dog.

Hes had her since he was 6. Now hes about to turn 18 next month and she will be 12 next month. I feel like its the end of an era. But for now, im just going to get all the big bear hugs I can from this guy because hes the bestson in the world. and Im the luckiest mama in the world to have him as my baby boy. Hes gonna kill me for this but I cant help myself!

Brandon!

brandon sunset2
Recently I got to meet Brandon. I wasn't feeling really well, was fighting a cold but Ill tell you when I walked into my camera room and he was sitting there with a smile on his face within minutes I felt so much better. He is a funny and creative guy. I told him immediately that he should be an actor or in plays because he has that larger than life vibe about him. (its sort of a hobby of mine to find peoples unique gift inside them and tell them to express it!)
I've photographed Brandons siblings and his mom is the best! To bring her third child to me really says a lot. Thank you!
I am so lucky to get to meet the wonderful students and parents that I do. :-)

Autumn is here at last!

summerfall
Things are really hectic here right now. I thought things were supposed to slow down in at the end of summer. But thats not the case here!
I found a bit of time to decorate for Fall. My mantel was beach and summer items and now its all Autumn! The hosue smells of apples and cinnamon and Chrysanthamums "MUMS" abound! As you can see our Sheltie Ginger is not impressed.

We are gearing up for our Annual Fall Portraits in the Park, Each year we have a waiting list and will call you when we have the dates and times ready. Some weekend coming very soon! Be sure Call us and leave your name and number to get on the waiting list! PDixie@sw.rr.com or call 940-761-5111.

This limited edition session fee is only $25 (reg $50) and our packages will offer Christmas cards and other new items. A family portrait taken in the fall foliage is something special that will grace your home for many many years to come, and something that you will not grow tired of. Most people tell us that their portrait is "timeless" and looks beautiful hanging in your home , whether in the family room, dinning room or even a hall way over a nice piece of furniture!

I will post some pics so you guys can see how beautiful these family portarits turn out! Thanks for listening!

THE "UGLY NIGHTSTAND PROJECT".

dixienightstand
The decorating saga of my daughters' family home continues. We have done a lot with the living room, dinning room and kitchen but havent even touched the childrens rooms yet or the Master bedroom.
We had a great bunkbed set that we loaned our oldest grandson and I found a great deal on a dresser for him.
Recently I was in Irving Texas with my in laws and passed a yard sale that had this hideous nightstand. It has the most horrible paint job. I dont know what went wrong here, but something went wayyy wrong.
So for the low price of $7. i snagged it and managed to squeeze it into my Ford Fusion backseat.
Im going to strip it and paint and have some ideas of what this unloved sad guy will be transformed into. (Laughing menaically and rubbing hands together. Muuu haahahaha!)
Seriously havent set on a color pallette for Tristans room yet, so not totally sure, but stay tuned for what it turns into soon!
(By the way, have you noticed you cant find a nightstand in this town for less than $99.00??)
