The most important thing.

For Christmas, I bought our son a book.

Before I tell you the name of the book, here's the first page of the book. Think about this as you read it and see if you can figure it out. Don't cheat and look yet. Because this is what I preach to my employees and my family. (and to myself) I love this. Because this is the GOOD STUFF here.

WHO AM I?

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down in failure.

I am completely at your command.

Half the things I do you might just as well turn over to me and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed--you must merely be firm with me.

Show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am a servant of all great individuals and, alas, of all failures as well.

Those who are great, I have MADE GREAT.
Those who are Failure, I have made failures.

I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine.
Plus the intelligence of a human.
You may run me for a profit or run me for ruin, It makes no Difference to me.

Take me, Train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet.

BE EASY WITH ME AND I WILL DESTROY YOU.

I AM HABIT.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit." -Aristotle

Habits are things we do consistently, Depending on what they are , they can make or break us. I have always believed this and I strived desperately to help others develop good habits. I have to ride my son to brush his teeth. But he automatically works out every day and makes time to exercise.

I have to ride myself to take the dog for a walk, but I automatically brush and floss every night (didn't always but have the past few years.)

I have ridden my employees to do the same things every morning, but forget to call my parents. Its all about Habits. I admit, It annoys me when someone cant break a bad habit or form new good ones. Because the person cant see what they are loosing. I had a pregnant employee once who had some bad habits, Drinking Caffeinated drinks was one.

Even with a growing baby inside her she couldn't kick the habit. I just think that is weak minded. What more motivation do you need?! Ive pleaded with my mother to stop smoking. I have good ones and bad ones like everyone else. But I do know that Habits MAKE YOU. And once something becomes a habit, its automatic. You can change the bad ones and implement the good ones.

That's why I don't like Cursing. If I start to hear cuss words, then I start to pick them up! I hate them, so I don't allow it. I used to fine my husband $10 everytime he muttered a 4 letter wod (being in the military for 25 years will do that.) Hes really cleaned up his language.

I like to get my paper work done first thing in the morning and handle emails at this time too. I used to do my running at night outdoors when it was cool, (got out of that habit when we lived in Japan and it was so humid and muggy even at night!)

The book is called The 7 Habits of Highly effective TEENS. by Sean Covey. Its a great book! I recommend it. Only $10 thru Amazon.com or here in town at the mall.

GOOD OR BAD HABITS, They will shape you. Look around you at people you know with bad habits and how they suffer from them? If they would only replace those with new good habits. What a difference it would make in thier lives. How much better. They arnt even thinking about what they are doing, its just automatic.

Just thought I'd share that with you guys this morning. Now my new habit of going to the gym and doing Cardio on Mon Wed and Fridays. Got to go!
