Cardboard Testimonies
This video is really moving. My Friend Francie sent it to me a few weeks ago. Ive sent it on to many friends, but I was nervous about posting it on my blog. Its sad that some people are offended by Christianity.
But I'm going to put it up anyway. Its very touching.
I hope you'll take a little time to watch it. Only take a couple of minutes, but it will inspire and move you, im sure.
Hugs!

Change? or Restore?
My Friend and Employee Gina sent this to me. Thanks Gina! I agree.
Change NO, Restore YES
Not long ago I read a joke ... It said all the politicians running for president are promising change to the American people. We send them billions and billions of tax dollars and they send us the change.
Funny?
Not really; there is too much truth in it to be funny.
That got me to thinking ... They all promise change. How about if they run on a promise of restoration rather than change.
A restoration that would take us back in time to a place where things ran better, smoother and life was more enjoyable. Change? That, in truth, is what they have been giving us all along.
We used to have a strong dollar ... Politicians changed that.
Life used to be sacred ... Politicians changed that.
Marriage used to be sacred ... Politicians are changing that.
We used to be respected around the world ... Politicians changed that.
We used to have a strong manufacturing economy ... Politicians changed that.
We used to have lower tax structures ... Politicians changed that.
We used to enjoy more freedoms ... Politicians changed that.
We used to be a large exporter of American made goods ... Politicians changed that.
We used to be an openly Christian nation ... Politicians changed that.
We used to teach patriotism in schools ... Politicians changed that.
We used to educate children in schools ... Politicians changed that.
We used to enjoy freedom of speech ... Politicians changed that.
We used to enforce LEGAL citizenship ... Politicians changed that.
We used to have affordable food & gas prices ... Politicians changed that, too. ... and one could go on and on with this list.
What hasn't been changed, politicians are promising to change that as well if you will elect them.
When, oh when, is America going to sit back with open eyes and look at what we once were and where we have come and say, enough is enough?
The trouble is, America's youthful voters today don't know of the great America that existed forty and fifty years ago. They see the world as if it has always existed, as it is now.
When will we wake up? Tomorrow may be too late. When will America realize ... Politicians are what is wrong with America?

Back to the 70s and early 80s.

I wanted to do something different tonight. I was adding songs to my new ipod and I am getting some of the songs from the 70s that were popular when I was my sons age. So I added some on the music Jukebox here on the site. These were mostly love songs from the late 70s and early 80s. Yes I am showing my age but we really did have awesome music during that time.
The first one is ELTON JOHN, Crocodile Rock.
You can click on the juke box and see what songs are on it. Or just do like my friend Julie does and let it play and she turns up the speakers and lets it play.
One of the songs that I really loved as a teenager is by BREAD "Lost without your Love." I remember crying my eyes out when I was 15 to this song. My first boyfriend was killed by a hit and run driver as he was crossing the street. This song is dedicated to him, Bret Farmer of Plainview.
I thought Id just leave these songs up this weekend.
I am only adding songs and then Monday it will be back to normal.
Enjoy!
Hugs,
Dixie

BUT THE DAWGS PULLED IT OUT! Check the Times Record News tomorrow for details and Ill post more after i get some rest! (heres a link to the photos that the TRN took of the game!)

2 exciting plans coming up soon!
Getting Ready for my Dads 80th Birthday in October! yea! And My BESTIE Francie is taking me to Los Angeles for a much deserved break soon! Youll never guess what we are doing there!? Any guesses!
I cant wait. All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl.
I cant wait. All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl.
Certification- A symbol you can trust.

What is a PPA Certified photographer? Only those photographers who have passed a rigorous three-part test can earn the PRA Certified designation.
It is the difference between a CPA and just an accountant. No wait, that's not exactly true because an Accountant has to have a degree to call himself an accountant. There is no regulation on photography. Unfortunately ANYONE can buy a camera, print some business cards out on their home printer and BOOM! Call them selves a photographer. SCARY!
He or she can then get a DBA license and they are in business. Many don't even have a Texas resale tax license. These "Digital Debbies" are everywhere and coming out of the wood work daily!
They use you and other unsuspecting clients as their "guinea pigs" . They practice on your wedding. Certification is one thing that separates the amateurs from the Pros.
Always ASK IF THEY ARE CERTIFIED. Look for this logo! Or better yet go to the PPA web site http://www.ppa.com/ and see if they are certified. Or if they are even members of the Professional photographer of America.
All PPA Certified photographers must: pass a comprehensive written examination ,measuring their technical expertise. They must submit images for critical review and also submit to a reference and credit check.
Moreover, all PPA Certified photographers must participate in the continuing education program of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and periodically submit their work for critical evaluation to maintain their certification. This ensures that all those holding the PPA Certified designation not only maintain their level of expertise, but also continue to develop new skills and techniques.
The PPA Certified designation is granted by the Professional Photographers of America, the world's oldest and largest Association of professional photographers and image makers, with more than 14,000 members in 64 nations.
LESS THAN 3% of all photographers are Certified. The test is rigorous. Thanks to my education in photography, I passed on the first try. Those years of college prepared me. Ratios, f stops, optics, my darkroom experience and studying the history of photography prepared me.
As Ann and Denny Bishop, the awesome Realtors say ..."Were not Bragging.. Were applying for a Job." I just want you guys to know the difference. Thanks for listening!
where does the time go?
What a day! Its 10 pm and i just finished working! ill post images soon. Im so behind! When you are busy from 9:30 am till 10 at night theres not much time to do much!
Thanks for understanding gang! Goodnight!

See you at the pole!

I'm so proud of our son Scott. This morning he got extra early to get to school by 7 am (instead of the usual 8 am) to meet some of his friends around the FLAG pole.
Today is "see you at the pole day". Its where students can gather around the Flag pole and pray for their friends and family and the school cannot interfere.
To read more about it go here!

The thought of children praying together as a group gives me a big lump in my throat. I would of loved to photograph them, but I'm sure he wouldn't want mom hovering around.
Its a private thing.
I'm proud of you Scott and your FCA friends!
Hugs!

Freak accident

A little girl from California was playing with a jump rope while her mother was driving their SUV. The little girl tied the jump rope around her wrist and lowered the other end out of the window, which was only open about 6 inches.
She wanted to see the jump rope bounce around and "fly", the rope got wrapped around the SUVS axle and severed her hand. What happened next was amazing and the kindness of strangers was amazing. To see the video and the precious little girl go here. (Shes adorable and doing well!)
Things like this just reminds me not to sweat the small things. A lot of the things we worry about are not that important. Loosing a child is what a truly bad day is. Im so glad shes doing well, and my heart goes out to them.

What I love about Sundays

Its Sunday. I went over to visit my daughter, son in- l-aw and 2 boys.Last night I took the older boy to the Fair.
So today I played with the baby.
So today I played with the baby.
How much do I love this little boy? My heart is full and about to burst with joy thinking of him.
He looks so much like my daughter and son ,combined at that age. That cotton colored hair, crystal blue eyes and soft pretty skin.
His giggle melts my heart.
Her backyard is blooming with Crepe Myrtles, roses, irises, sunflowers and all sorts of flowers. It was such a nice evening.
I'm so blessed.
I added this song "What I love about Sundays" by Craig Morton. I'm still pinching myself that my little girl lives here in Wichita Falls. Its like a dream come true.
I've had some bad times in my life, and experienced some bad painful things, but I have to admit this really is the best time of my life right now.
This is the good stuff...... These are the good ole days. No matter what , Ive always got these days.
Being a grammy is the greatest.
COOL QUAN

Hey Guys! This is Quan. He is an amazing young man. Smart, articulate, athletic and Funny as heck. Seriously my cheeks were hurting he made me laugh so much.
He's a great guy and I know hes got a great future in front of him.
I could go on and on about this young man, but I'll just say Hes DA BOMB!
Thanks Quan, it was fun getting to know you! (PS My son assisted in the photo shoot, because he knows Quan and watching the two of them bantering back and forth, well.... it was memorable.)

Fun at the Fair!

Wow, we had a great evening! I took my grandson and his friend Cody and my son and 2 friends to the Fair. (Midway) We've been going ever since we moved here and it was a lot of fun.
Heres a few images I got from the night. My favorite ride was the one that looks like a boat and has the pirates on it and it swings you back and forth and gives you butterflies in your stomach!
Speaking of stomachs.
We ate Pizza, Funnell cakes, Carmel Apples, Lemonaid, Corn Dogs and Cotton Candy! PHEW!
It was a great night!
(Hubby stayed home as he painted all day long at the High School!) (since 7:30 this morning till 7:30 at night!)

Homecoming!

Congratulations to Kalea and Jason who were voted Homecoming Queen and King last night!
It was an awesome game 51-0! Over Gainsville, which makes Burkburnett with the best record in the area!
Way to go Boys! It was an amazing Game! more photos to follow soon!
Im so proud of those boys!!!
:P
PS I got to try out my new lens and it worked great. Its a Canon 70-20mm f/2.8 and it was a big improvement over my 400mm f4.0 the added 2 f stops allowed me to shoot faster shut speeds and not get blur under the stadium lights.
And its got the tripod mount so the weight will distrube better and not harm the camera.

How does one recover?
Hurricane Ike wreaked havoc for 13 days. But boy what damage it did. I was afraid this would be a big one and it was.
Here are some photos on the web. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2008/09/the_short_but_eventful_life_of.html

Give to The American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is in dire need of funds! Due to the Hurricanes this year, they are having to borrow money. Go online and give anything you can. Even a couple of dollars will make a difference!
Heaven forbid, Someday you might need the RED CROSS. http://american.redcross.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ntld_main

Ray Ray

Little Raylee is such a little doll. She is the daughter of my employee Keisha and her mom Jackie. Both Keisha and Jackie worked for me, but Keisha was diagnosed with Cancer and had to leave. The good news is Keisha is doing excellent! And Im so glad.
Raylee just turned one and of course what studio did they make an appointment with for her one year portraits?
Im the lucky one.
And Im sooo glad.
I love those three. They've had a lot of adversity hit them and they so deserve some happiness and that is what Raylee brings into their lives.
Thanks guys for bringing Raylee to me. Shes such an angel! See you soon!

PASS SENATE BILL 1738!
There is a bill coming through the Senate, called Bill 1738 , which will allow the government to be able to fund more dollars to catch Internet predators who prey on children.
Help Pass Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act
Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators. Act Now! Your U.S. senators will be voting on the bill soon, so it is crucial you contact them immediately.Go to http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm to find contact information for the senators in your state. Search for your senator by name or state by clicking on the arrow from either drop down menu.
For more info go to Oprah's site here. http://www.oprah.com/article/oprahshow/20080911_tows_predators
This was very eye opening to me and we must let our Senators know that we want this bill passed! They should not go home until this is passed.

A new fragrance!

I love perfume and unfortunately the kinds I like are usually expensive. I can tell a big difference in the scents that are higher quality which usually translates to higher priced. But as I see it, its your signature and the last thing you want to do is offend someone with your chosen fragrance.. So I choose more upscale parfumes.
I have found a new fragrance that is so feminine and romantic, yet not overpowering. Its called Waterford Lismore. Its actually in a Waterford crystal decanter which you can save and use when your finished.
The fragrance is so soft and has freesia, waterlily and lismore (light airy notes) and then comes the rose, ylang ylang and Mandarin. Wow. Its so intoxicating!
Its not heavy or overpowering. Its so nice, as they claim its the worlds most romantic perfume. I would agree! Here's their site.
This is something you could wear every day or to a wedding and not worry about it being too overbearing.
http://www.waterfordparfum.com/ They carry it at Dillards now! So no going to Dallas to Neiman Marcus or Saks!

A special couple

Sometimes you meet someone who is really great. They stand out for some reason. Usually its their character that makes them stand out, and often times, they have to leave before you can really get to know them well.
Such is the case with Andy and Taryn Gray. Andy went through Pilot Training here at Sheppard AFB and we were lucky enough to get to know them.
Andy and his wife are that kind of couple who live life with passion. They are energetic, optimistic, giving and just plain fun to be around! :-) Their religious faith is very strong and its so great to be around them.
Andy was the Quarterback for the US Air Force Academy in 2003-2005. He is a natural leader and a super smart and nice guy. Taryn is like a ray of sunshine. Her smile is contagious and shes super sweet. She knows more about football than most guys I know! Andy and Taryn took a special interest in Burkburnett high school and Andy attended most of their games. They even delayed their orders to go to Florida so that they could attend the first game of Burkburnett August 28th! They only lived here for 2 years but became very involved and gave a lot of themselves. Twice he gave motivational speeches at the beginning of the year to inspire the team. (Which judging by their bi-district state championship last year and their 3-0 record this year, the Team must of have listened well!)
Andy and Taryn are now at Panama City Florida stationed at Tyndall AFB and enjoying life on the beach. Andy will be flying the F-15 Eagle at Tyndall and will quickly rise through the ranks, as he is a natural leader. His record is impeccable and Bruce and I are very proud of him.
We will miss them but enjoy hearing from them via email and letters.
Not too often do wonderful people like these two come along and we are so proud to call them friends and miss them already.
Best of luck to you guys!
