Imortalize yourself as an M&M!

Well guys I am over the FLU finally. Or whatever I had. I was very sick for the past 3 days. My son and I both. We did not get our flu shots this year. So it was pretty rough.

Im glad to be amongst the living. It is going all around Burkburnett so look out. Go and get your shot. Im lucky it only lasted 3 days, I drank lots of lemon juice and water and vitamins (while I was concious that is)

So today was a good day when I awoke and wasnt in agony and my fever dropped from 103 to 99. degrees. (I never went to the Dr. but my son did and he was on antibiotics and it took him 5 days to get well enough to get out of bed! Im pretty sure it was the FLU.)

The thing about me is Im almost always a very positive happy person, but of course, when you are sick its really hard to be positive about anything. But 3 things made me smile while I was sick. My son, my silly dog, and the new M&M commercial.
Have you seen it? You can make a M&M out yourself. Its at http://www.becomeanmm.com

Here is me! I named her Princess Lambchop Ala Mode. Go make yourself into an M&M its a lot of fun!

Im glad to be feeling better and laughing again. Email me your self as an M&M, Ill post it on the Blog here.

The Daffodil Principle

A good friend of mine in Dallas sent this to me tonight and its so great. (shes also a photographer)

I really like it.
ENJOY
The Daffodil Principle

Several times my daughter had telephoned to say, "Mother, you must come
to see the daffodils before they are over." I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead "I will come next Tuesday", I promised a little reluctantly on her third call.

Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still, I had promised, and reluctantly I drove there. When I finally walked into Carolyn's house I was welcomed by the joyful sounds of happy children. I delightedly hugged and greeted my grandchildren.

"Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in these clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see badly enough to drive another inch!"

My daughter smiled calmly and said, "We drive in this all the time, Mother. she said. "Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears, and then I'm heading for home!" I assured her.

"But first we're going to see the daffodils. It's just a few blocks," Carolyn said. "I'll drive. I'm used to this."

"Carolyn," I said sternly, "Please turn around." "It's all right, Mother, I promise. You will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."

After about twenty minutes, we turned onto a small gravel road and I saw a small church. On the far side of the church, I saw a hand lettered sign with an arrow that read, "Daffodil Garden." We got out of the car, each took a child's hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path. Then, as we turned a corner, I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most glorious sight.

It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it over the mountain peak and its surrounding slopes. The flowers were planted in majestic, swirling patterns, great ribbons and swaths of deep orange, creamy white, lemon yellow, salmon pink, and saffron and butter yellow. Each different-colored variety was planted in large groups so that it swirled and flowed like its own river with its own unique hue. There were five acres of flowers.

"Who did this?" I asked Carolyn. "Just one woman," Carolyn answered. "She lives on the property. That's her home." Carolyn pointed to a well-kept A-frame house, small and modestly sitting in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house.

On the patio, we saw a poster. "Answers to the Questions I Know You Are Asking", was the headline. The first answer was a simple one. "50,000 bulbs," it read. The second answer was, "One at a time, by one woman. Two hands, two feet, and one brain." The third answer was, "Began in 1958."

For me, that moment was a life-cha nging experience. I thought of this woman whom I had never met, who, more than forty years before, had begun, one bulb at a time, to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountaintop. Planting one bulb at a time, year after year, this unknown woman had forever changed the world in which she lived. One day at a time, she had created something of extraordinary magnificence, beauty, and inspiration. The principle her daffodil garden taught is one of the greatest principles of celebration.

That is, learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time--often just one baby-step at time--and learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world .

"It makes me sad in a way ," I admitted to Carolyn. "What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years? Just think what I might have been able to achieve!"

My daughter summed up the message of the day in her usual direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said.

She was right. It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson of celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask, "How can I put this to use today?"

Use the Daffodil Principle.
Stop waiting.....
Until your car or home is paid off
Until you get a new car or home
Until your kids leave the house
Until you go back to school
Until you finish school
Until you clean the house
Until you organize the garage
Until you clean off your desk
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married
Until you get a divorce
Until you have kids
Until the kids go to school
Until you retire
Until summer
Until spring
Until winter
Until fall
Until you die...

There is no better time than right now to be happy.

A sad day

I am sorry to say that my beloved former mother in law lost her battle to cancer recently, I failed to post it until now.
I wrote about her recently in my blog (scroll down a ways)
I knew her for 28 years and she was a special lady. Her house was the house in the neighborhood where all the kids and teenagers wanted to be. It was a "House of Love" she would call it.
She was tolerant of everyone, so sweet and she was the best listener I've ever known.
Her doting husband of 48 years is grieving a big loss right now. He is truly a brave man for everything he's been through.

I know that a part of her will live on in me, for she taught me many things. Its funny how each day I will think of her. She taught me to look at myself with clear eyes to always do what was in my best interests and to love people unconditionally.
I will miss her laugh and her smile. Even in her last days she was sweet.
I will never forget her.

A sweet letter from another satisfied client and her daughter!

Dear Dixie and Diane,

I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to you for making my daughters Senior photo experience a positive one. Lacy searched all over town and the surrounding counties to find a photographer who would portray her in the way she wanted.
I'm the first to say that Lacy is very particular and must always have the best.
She is so thrilled with her pictures! She has posted one on her Myspace and has IMd all her friends about how much she loves them.
Her friends at school are all fighting over who gets one, and so I will have to order more. (I kept 50 in my purse so as to have some for her graduation announcements.)
The time you spent with her, and the way you made both her and I feel special will not be forgotten. What a special touch (serving fresh hot chocolate chip cookies and hot cocoa!)
We had heard you really know how to make people feel special and how good you were, but we were both blown away by both you and Diane's personal attention.
We kept the star you gave us! SMILE!!
Everybody should know how sweet you guys are and how much time and attention you give your people. Its so unusual these days to get that.
Thank you again, and I hope you frame this letter so everyone will know how awesome you both are! (Oh and Rob was a sweetheart too!)
Go Aggies and God be with you!
Sincerely,
Linda and Lacy Moore

Today at the Park

New years Day.
Well, Here it is 2007. Wow, Did you eat your black eyed peas? We did.
Today was a great day, I sat by the fire with my hubby and watched the Rose Parade. Made a scrumptous breakfast of french toast and sausage with fresh apple and tangerines on the side.
I sipped hot tea all day and worked on my clients portrait orders.

I went to the park with my son and dog and watched my son play basketball with his friends. My husband had a cold so he stayed home by the fire and watched football.
I got some great shots of my son shooting hoops. Hes really good! It was so cold, but he was sweating. He and his friends were having a great time and I got a couple of good shots of them.

I also took our dog Ginger with me, The Top image is of her. She loves to go anywhere! She is so beautiful. When I take her any place children always come up to me and ask me about her. She can do lots of tricks. even met a dog named Reilly that was so energetic and fun.

I hope 2007 brings you all health, wealth and happiness.
But most of good health, because without that, nothing else matters.
Gods Blessings....

2007 is here!

Hey Guys! I hope you all had a great New years Eve celebration! We did! I cant believe my long vacation will be over tomorrow. Boo Hoo. But on the other hand, Im rested, recharged and excited about new ideas for 2007. Each year I make a resolution to improve my skills as a photographer and Ive been doing a lot of reading of some fantastic books during the holiday vacation.
Ive also watched countless hours of Photoshop videos learning new techniques. Hard to believe I first started using Photoshop back in 1993 with a very early version. (Ver.3?)
Here is an image of a beautiful girl Chelsea from Iowa Park. When she walked in the first thing i though was Prisilla Presley! She has the same bone structure and those eyes! I dont think Ive ever seen a tinier nose either. Just gorgeous.
