A parents love...

I love taking Maternity images. They are just so special.

However, they require special lighting and posing in order to look tasteful. I really love this with the mother and the fathers hands together.
they are creating a heart shape.

The mom is 8 months pregnant and is just beautiful. I never get over the wonder of pregnancy. Its a beautiful time. This child will definetly know it was loved, even before it drew its very first breath...

Cabbage Patch Babies

Well I guess its true, Babies do come from Cabbage Patches!
At least these 2 cousins did!
We found them sitting there, munching on cabbage rolls laughing and gigling!

Seriously, these are 2 adorable babies. Morgan and Carissa. Ive photographed Morgans
big brother a few times and what a nice family they are.
Mommy Gayle is really terrific too!
Ive been doing these portraits for a few years now and always think they are fun.
Of course, i get strange stares in the grocery store when I buy 1o heads of cabbage!
They must think I really like Cole Slaw or something.
I hope Morgans mommie enjoys this portrait, I certainly enjoyed creating it
for them!

Meet the West Family!

I really love photographing families. The reason is simple, a lot of people NEVER get around to getting a family portrait!
They mean to, but they never do. So I admire a family when they take the time and do it.
Its not that hard, but for some reason, people put it off until..... Its too late.
My parents NEVER had a professional Family portrait done. My mother was great about taking us kids to studios and had us photographed often, but we never got a family portrait.
I guess thats why its so important to me.
I enjoyed photographing the West Family. Dad is so funny and Mom is so nice, and the kids well, talk about photogenic!
Congratulations to the West's. They took the time and made a memory!
You'll always be glad you did.

Merediths Mission

My son Scott asked me to put up this information about a class mate he has known for several years. Her name is Meredith Selvidge, and she is an 8th grader at Burk Middle School.
She's about to embark on a trip to help repair her spinal cord. Meredith uses a wheelchair due to a spinal injury.

She is raising funds so that she can travel to Baku Azerbaijan. Step one involves taking bone marrow from her hip and seperating out her own stem cells, These cells will grow for 4 or 5 days
and then the doctor will make a small incision and inject the cells with a special needle into the original injury site between two vertebrae. The ultimate goal is that the will repair the damage to her spine and help her gain all or some mobility.
To help raise funds for her you can purchase a T-shirt for $10. by clicking on this link.
http://www.burkburnettisd.org

Thanks for helping Meredith!
Lets also pray for her safe travels and a speedy recovery.

Hailey from Graham

Meet Hailey from Graham. As Ive said before, it seems that we photograph the most beautiful girls in Texas and Oklahoma!
Here are 3 portraits to prove it!

What a small world it is , she is friends with my cousin Jaci!
She brought her adorable puppy named Macy and I fell in love with that little pooch.

She's the cutest pup. She was so quiet and timid, until I meowed at her and boy she started barking at me! I wish Macy had a sister and I would adopt her in a minute! ha ha.
Haileys Mom Terri was a lot of fun to talk with too. She also helped me out with reflectors
and was a great assistant. Thank you Terri!
Looking forward to meeting Dad and see you guys soon.
Have a Blessed Easter.

Attitude of Grattitude

I just wanted to share something with you all.
I recently photographed a gorgeous Senior from Jacksboro named Carly. She was really free spirited and we had a great photo shoot!

I wanted to share this letter her mother wrote me today. I get lots of E-mails, but to get a real Letter in the mail, and a card, was very sweet.

"Dear Dixie,
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Carlys picture time with you. I had so much fun watching her pose and dance arouond. I really appreciated the time you spent in trying to get everything just right.

The atmosphere was relaxing and fun. Michelle was so sweet too, and helpful from setting up the appointment to picking up the pictures and I loved the pictures!!!!

Your artistry is outstanding.
I really appreciated your putting Carlys pictures on your web site too. I was able to call practically everyone I know and proudly show her off. Of course, I think she is beautiful, but you did an outstanding job of making her assets really stand out.

I wish you could have heard all of the wonderful comments I have received from all those who have seen her pictures.

Thanks so much for making this special time something we will always remember.

Sincerely Mitzi

I have the best clients in the world.
They give me so much more back, than they ever know.

Thank you for your kind letter Mitzi and Carly,

Adorable family

I love photographing families and its very challenging when they have small children, but this family is wonderful. I've been doing thier portraits for several years.
Im so honored they drive so far to me, since they live in Muenster, Texas.
Their children are so wonderful!
Chloe is a doll and very friendly, Nathan is fun spirited and energetic and the baby Braden is adorble. I gave him a little baby massage and he gigled the whole time. He is so good. Ive never seen a baby as good natured as Braden. Laughs and laughs and laughs....

I took the outdoor portriat on Friday when the winds were 50 miles per hour! I am not kidding!
It was unbelievable!!!
The kids were great and mom and dad were too. I almost got blown into the pond!
But the results turned out great.

ROB

Today I got to photograph ROB. What a natural in front of the camera. I can tell this guy
has done some acting and theatre. He was great.
People like this is what Photographers Dream of, people who will "show off" for the camera,
yet seem natural at the same time.
Rob is graduating from Rider High School and is friends with several of our other clients, including Kayce Goldstein and Erin Hudson.

Rob is heading off to Syracuse in the Fall, we wish you luck Rob, but you wont need it, you've got talent and skills oozing out of you!!!

Beautiful Becky

This is Becky!
Shes so cute and petite. Just like a little living doll! She was a lot of fun.
Has piercing Blue eyes!
It just seems that the prettiest girls come to Photography by Dixie!
I dont know why, but they do!

Her plans are to become a Pharmacist and I think thats great! Its so amazing
that women can do just about anything. I love to see young ladies pursuing goals
and careers.
It seems in the media, there are so many Dumb Girls.
I hate that stereotype. I'm proud that many of my clients have become
Physicans, Attorneys, and Professional women as well.
Best of luck to you Becky, I know you will do great!

Derick

This is Derick who goes to Holliday High School, and he is really really tall and handsome@

He was really nice and laid back. I hear that after he graduates he may pursue a career in bull riding.! Wow.! Hes ridden before and that just amazes me.
I've photographed Bull riders before but never "in action" I may have to check him out. (I dont know if I can watch, Id be scared to death!)

A great guy like Derick can do anything he wants to do.
He and his mom really made my day. I enjoyed getting to know them both!

Amber

Today I got to meet Amber from Iowa Park. She is so photogenic! She was so comfortable in front of the camera too.
She's planning on attending Texas Tech and will study Law. (Where I went to School- Go Raiders!)

We had a great photo shoot, even though it was so windy outside today. We managed to get a few good shots outdoors when the wind finally died down.

I love to Solarize my images like the one with her Cobalt Blue Firebird. This is a trend I started about 5 years ago. Its pretty funky looking, I love it!
Best of luck to you Amber!

April Showers bring May Flowers

I shot these 2 images this morning.
It finally came a nice little rain shower this morning! I love it when it rains in the morning.
I love to drink my coffee on the patio and watch the rain fall.
For those who know me, they know I love flowers. I am constantly planting flowers, rearranging flowers and growing something!
The strange thing is that I didnt have a green thumb until the birth of my son.
We lived in Japan and lived in military housing. I had a huge hedge of Hibiscus when I moved in
and I really enjoyed looking at them every morning and evening, while my son played outside.

Ever since then, I've loved flowers.
I shot this photo this morning of my pansies. The rain shower left some beautiful little droplets of water. The yellow flowers are actually the flowers on Cabbage I planted this winter.
See beauty comes from all sorts of unexpected places!

Just wanted to share that with all of you.
I just got an email from my friend in Italy. Luigi, the photographer, he told me it was cloudy and raining in Italy. So I guess we got the same weather pattern here too. (they are 6 hours ahead of us in the time zone.)
Have a beautiful day and Live well!
