Dreamy Image

I just wanted to add one more image of Zipporah, you can read about her below.
I may enter this image into Print competiton, it reminds me of the Cross Processed look when you develop slide film in Developer for film.
Lovely........

We love Zipporah!

I photographed this young lady from Jacksboro. SHe was so much fun to work with.
She was very relaxed in front of the camera and so sweet. There is something about her that really reminds me of myself when I was that age.
We took some cool shots down by the Railroad tracks. ( i have a secret spot I like to go to, that my competitors dont know about. LOL!)

SHe was so fun, and so respectful. Nowadays a lot of teenagers are rude and self obsessed. I dont seem to attract that kind to my studio. I always get to photograph the BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST!!!
And to top it off, she has the coolest name! Zipporah! Which is Hebrew meaning a female bird, or a small bird. She is tiny. I bet she is a size 0.
I believe that girls with unique names grow up to be special. She will be too.

Big Pasture Senior

Today I got to meet Joe from Devol, he goes to Big Pasture High in Oklahoma.
I met Joes mother about 11 years ago, right after I moved to Wichita Falls. What a wonderful lady!

She owns the awesome store HARVEST DRUG store, Check out their site at http://www.harvestdrug.com
Its an awesome store here that carries lots of neat things, besides being a great pharmacy, its a cool store too. Purses, clothes, jewelry, its a fun place to go.

Joe is a strapping 6 foot 4 baseball player, basketball player, President of the FFA and all around great guy. As I've said, Im so fortunate to photograph the Best and the Brightest. Good Luck to Joe, when he goes off to OSU this fall.

Wacky Wednesday

Today I woke up and it was raining! Just the type of weather where I want to stay home and pull the covers over my head.
But I had photo shoots to do and Its worth getting up for. LOL

My first appt today was a little girl who I photographed a couple of years ago.
A beautiful little girl name Chloe and her new baby brother Braden. They are beautiful children from Muenster. I love the people of Muenster because they are so nice and friendly.
I've photographed lots of weddings there and let me tell you, they know how to throw a wedding in that town!

Braden was an absolute photographers DREAM. He smiled for hours.
He never cried even once. CHloe was a doll too, and she never got upset and she laughed and played. I really love children. Not all are as good as these two were, but days like this make me glad to be a photographer of children.
Heres my favorite image of the two of them. They have amazing BLUE EYES!

Next week Im going to photograph thier whole family. Im always amazed at how far people drive to me for their portraits. This family drove over 80 miles. I love my clients they really are one of the things that make life worth living. (Of course my own children and family are number one though! SMILE)

Tuesdays Amazing Gals

Here is my first photo shoot of the day today. Djamie.! What a smart, talented and beautiful young lady. She just moved to Wichita Falls from California. She is half Japanese.
She is entering the Miss Teen Asian Competition.
I seem to do a lot of portraits for Beauty Scholarship Competitions. I enjoy them and getting to know the girls. They are always so interesting, intelligent and so involved in the community.
Djamie has 6 horses and bunny rabbitts and dogs.
She and her mother were so fun to get to know.
I thinks she's one of the prettiest girls Ive ever photographed! And another thing, she is so smart she graduated high school and she's only 16. Shes got aspirations about living in Asia
and studying Polictical Science. GIRL POWER!

I meet the most amazing people...

Today was a very eventful day. 3 Photo shoots of 3 very interesting young ladies.

I read about Bonnie in the local newspaper recently and was very inspired by her.
Not only is she a wife and a mommy of a darling little girl. She also is serving in the US Air Force and recently returned from IRAQ!
She also just did an amazing thing. SHE LOST 75 Pounds!
She also instructs YOGA. What an inspiration.

Recently I was contacted by a well known Womens Magazine inNew York. They told me they wanted to hire me to photograph Bonnie for an upcoming story to run in the magazine soon.
Oprah also is interested in her story as well! So today we did her photo shoots for the magazine. The magazine has decided to do a big 2 page story on her now and so we did lots of great photos.
She also happens to live right down the street from me.
Look for more about her story when its published in the Magazine available at every grocery store including Walmart. Its called "WOMAN"S WORLD".
Here are 2 beautiful photos of her.
YOU GO GIRL!

Speaking of Italy

As my friends know, one of my favorite movies is "Under the Tuscan Sun". Its such a
feel good movie.
I could see myself in the role in that movie. The crazy things the woman does, in order
to find happiness. Thats me!
Anwyay, i wanted to show you a link to a friend of mine.
He is an Itallian Photographer living and working in Italy. He is so nice and kind.
My husband and I have been friends with him for a few years.
He is coming to visit us in January, and we may see him in September.
Here is the link to his site http://www.barbano.com
Hes really amazing. CIAO! Here is one of his images. He's amazing.

A Tease photo...New Studio

When my husband took me to Italy about 9 years ago, I fell in love with the
beautiful woods, the hand forged iron, and the craftsman ship of all things Itallian.
WHen I returned I immediately began putting Itallian touches on our home.

9 years later Im still in love with it.
Here is the Vanity in our new studio powder room.
This is the most GORGEOUS VANITY, Ive ever seen. It has delicate rubbed bronze hardware fauctes and a stunning sink! My husband bought it for me for Christmas present. (well he bought me two, another one is just as gorgeous but with Black Granite top and lighter wood.

I designed the room and it feels like a little "jewel box". In a world of plasic and disposable things, I just crave CRAFTSMANSHIP and substance. My Builder asked me the other day.
I would sleep in this room if I could.
I'll be showing you more images of our new studio soon.

A beautiful Senior from Jacksboro Texas.

I guess the most beautiful Seniors come
to our studio.
It just seems that way.

SPEAK MY MIND (for what its worth)

A photo taken of me and my husband in our favorite place.
Port Aransas Texas. Each year we make the trek to our little slice of paradise.
This is where we will retire to in the year 2018.
Our son took this shot last June.
I can just smell the sea air and hear the seagulls. Ah.....

I''m a BLOGGER!

Well, I finally got around to it.
I've got my own Blog.

I'll be adding lots of photos and sharing the latest news about my Photography studio "PHOTOGRAPHY by DIXIE".
We are the BEST PLACE To Be Photographed in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma!
The main reason I started this Blog is to showcase images and info about the awesome people I photograph!
Each day I will add photos and info about our studio, our clients and products we offer.

My name is Dixie and I have been a photographer since 1988. I love what I do, its a lot of hard work and long hours, but its also very rewarding.

You see I'm an artist! Always have been,
since I was a little girl, and I use a Camera and Computer to create my art.

I used to use Crayons, Chalk and watercolors. Now I use a computer that has all those features.
Anyway, enough about me.

This BLOG is more about my Clients. The Awesome High School Seniors, Families and all kinds of people, who select me to capture their essence! To show the world thier beauty, their smile, thier personality, their .... souls!
I honestly see the GOODNESS and Beauty in all people. And its my Privledge, to capture it,
and give it back to them.

I used to work for a newspaper and I saw a lot of tragedy. Car Wrecks, Floods, and Fires.
I saw people die in my job. It just wasnt me.
I wanted to see people at their happiest.
When they are about to graduate high school and go out into the world.
When they get married! When they are expecting thier babies, then when they have thier first babies and are a little family.
When they get together with their whole families.
The times in life that really matter. The GOOD TIMES.
Thats what I am about.

Thanks for letting me be a part of it.
Its a GIFT to be able to enter into your lives.
